Change the Date Format in Thunderbird

December 5th, 2008 by Markus Leave a reply »

Are you using Thunderbird, but not happy with the current date format. You might be located somewhere that uses the dd/mm/yyyy format, or alternatively you might want to switch to the mm/dd/yyyy format.

Well this setting is not actually set in Thunderbird, it is part of the operating system itself. So Thunderbird is just displaying the date values, based on whatever you currently have setup in your OS. So to change the date format display in Thunderbird, you need to change your OS settings.

Example: To do this in Windows XP

Open Control Panel -> Language and Regional Settings
Click the “Customize” button
Change the Short date format to your preferred format
Done!
